Billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced that he plans to sell off his remaining home, located in California’s Bay Area, to fund a Mars colony. Musk has already sold his other properties to fund the endeavour. Throughout 2020, he sold six of his Californian properties, and another in 2019, for a combined total of $114 million. Musk has previously said he wanted to get rid of his properties to disarm ongoing criticism of his extreme wealth.

Last Sunday, the California Bay Area mansion was listed for sale at $37.5 million. It sits on the Crystal Springs Road in Hillsborough, with Musk primarily using it as a rental space for events. He has called the property a “special place” and says he hopes to sell it to a large family who can enjoy living there.

Musk currently lives in Texas, near SpaceX’s Boca Chica Starship plant. He made the move to Texas last year, residing in a $50,000 property that he rents.
