On Monday, luxury Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe announced that it is making 170 special versions of its most popular timepiece — the Nautilus Ref. 5711 — as part of a partnership with Tiffany & Co.
The surprise move comes almost a year after Patek Philippe discounted the famed timepiece, causing demand and prices to soar.
The luxury watchmaker has said it will be making 170 special Ref.5711 watches with a Tiffany-blue face to honour the 170-year partnership between Patek Philippe and Tiffany. The watch will feature the “Tiffany & Co” stamp at 6 o’clock and a Patek Philippe stamp at 12 o’clock. A “tiny surprise” will also feature on the back of the timepiece.
Speaking to CNBC, Patek Philippe CEO Thierry Stern said, “For me, it was quite clear I had to choose something unique and exceptional. This is really the last round for this watch.”
