Rihanna was recently featured on Forbes’ annual list of America’s richest self-made women for the third year in a row, ranking 21st overall. However, the Fenty Beauty CEO is the list’s only billionaire under the age of 40.

While some of Rihanna’s $1.4 billion net worth stems from her successful music career, it is her three businesses Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin and Savage X Fenty that are behind the bulk of her fortune.

In March of this year, Bloomberg reported that Savage X Fenty was working with advisors on an initial public offering (IPO) that could potentially see the lingerie brand — which Rihanna owns 30% of — valued at $3 billion. Rihanna also owns 50% of inclusive beauty brand Fenty Beauty, which she founded in 2017 in partnership with luxury goods luxury LVMH.

According to Equitas Advisory Group co-founder Susan Harmeling, Rihanna's success comes down to priorities: "Diversity is everything to this brand and its success," Harmeling told Insider in March of this year.

"Rihanna democratised beauty and lingerie. And if you democratise and humanise, what you're doing is very pragmatic and very profit-driven because you're expanding your market.”
