The ongoing tech rivalry between the United States and China has escalated with the latest announcement from the Biden administration regarding new export restrictions targeting China’s access to advanced semiconductor technology. Leading companies in China, such as SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation), are pushing ahead with efforts to develop homegrown technologies. However, the U.S. restrictions, in collaboration with international allies, continue to squeeze China’s access to critical technologies.
