SONGWON and Altek Form Strategic Partnership to Drive PVC Solutions in the Middle East

SONGWON Industrial Group, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has established a strategic partnership with Altek International FZE, a renowned chemical distribution company based in Dubai, UAE, to strengthen its presence in the Middle East. Effective from January 1, 2025, this collaboration focuses on distributing SONGWON’s premium PVC stabilizers to meet the increasing demand for sustainable and high-performance PVC solutions across the region.

The partnership aims to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the Middle East PVC market, driven by rapid urbanization, burgeoning construction projects, and a rising demand for PVC in key sectors such as packaging, construction, and electrical applications.

Altek International: A Strong Player in the MENA Region

Founded with a vision to provide raw materials for a diverse range of industries, Altek International has built a strong and reputable presence across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region over the past several decades. Specializing in the distribution of chemical raw materials, Altek caters to industries such as petrochemicals, plastics, rubber, coatings, and abrasives, among others.

With a vast network spanning GCC countries—including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain—Altek is uniquely positioned to deliver high-quality products to customers across the region. The company’s deep market knowledge, strong customer relationships, and distribution capabilities are crucial for supporting SONGWON’s expansion into the Middle East.

Through this partnership, Altek will play a vital role in promoting and distributing SONGWON’s PVC stabilizers, enabling both companies to leverage their combined expertise in meeting the growing regional demand for sustainable PVC.

Mohiuddin Ahmed, Business Head at Altek International FZE, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:

“SONGWON’s reputation for excellence and its high-quality PVC stabilizers perfectly align with our portfolio. With our extensive experience and established network across the Middle East, we are eager to bring SONGWON’s innovative PVC solutions to our valued customers throughout the region.”

SONGWON's PVC Stabilizers: Meeting the Growing Demand in the Middle East

According to Bouzid Hamcherif, Leader of the Sub Business Unit PVC at SONGWON, the Middle East’s PVC market is primed for substantial growth. Several key factors are driving the increase in demand for PVC in the region:

  1. Rapid Urbanization: The population explosion and urban development in the GCC countries are fostering a surge in the demand for durable and sustainable building materials like PVC. Urbanization projects require significant infrastructure, including pipes, windows, and cables—all of which rely on PVC.
  2. Growth in Construction Projects: The Middle East has been undergoing an intense construction boom, with new residential, commercial, and industrial projects being launched in major cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Doha. The increasing need for piping systems, windows, roofing, and flooring has propelled the demand for high-quality PVC solutions.
  3. Increased Demand in Packaging and Electrical Applications: The growing demand for eco-friendly packaging materials and the rise in electrical and electronic applications, including cables, have led to an increase in the consumption of PVC-based products. PVC’s versatility, affordability, and sustainability make it a preferred choice for packaging and electrical sectors.

“We believe that by collaborating with Altek, we can meet the rising demand for PVC stabilizers in the Middle East. This partnership strengthens SONGWON’s position as a preferred supplier, allowing us to provide our premium PVC solutions to a wider range of industries across the region,” said Bouzid Hamcherif.

The exhibition will take place from January 7–9, 2025, in Dubai, UAE, offering a prime platform for both companies to engage with stakeholders, showcase their innovative solutions, and connect with potential clients.
