History
Le Grand Mazarin is steeped in history, reflecting the rich heritage of the Marais district. The hotel is named after Cardinal Mazarin, a prominent 17th-century statesman who played a key role in French politics and culture. A total of 3 buildings create the hotel - itself a historical landmark, with its origins dating back to the 15th century. Throughout its history, the building has undergone several renovations and restorations to preserve its architectural integrity while incorporating modern amenities. Today, it stands as a testament to the blending of old-world charm with contemporary luxury, offering guests a unique glimpse into Paris’ past.

Restaurant
Le Grand Mazarin recently introduced its new gourmet brunch venture at its in-house restaurant Boubalé and every Sunday, Boubalé unveils a buffet of savoury and sweet delights. On the counter stands a selection of fresh products where Middle Eastern cuisine meets Eastern Europe from traditional schnitzel, breaded chicken cutlets, and even chopped liver and cabbage salad. To accompany this generous buffet the restaurant offers a delicate selection of dishes on the menu, including the must- have Borekas, Eggs Benedict, or a delicious Burger. For the sweet touch, the exquisite lost babka and the infinitely soft pancakes delight the palate.
Day to day, Boubalé also celebrates French gastronomy. The menu features a selection of classic and contemporary dishes prepared with the finest ingredients. Diners can enjoy a variety of options, from delicate pastries and freshly baked bread to exquisite main courses and decadent desserts. The restaurant’s interior is equally impressive, with its elegant decor and intimate ambiance creating the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience and is child friendly with lots of breakfast options. Large windows offer views of the bustling streets of the Marais, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the neighbourhood as they enjoy their meal. Room service is also available, allowing guests to enjoy a private dining experience in the comfort of their room.
Swimming Pool and Spa
The swimming pool at Le Grand Mazarin is more than just a place to swim; it is a sanctuary designed to offer guests a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Nestled within the hotel’s elegant interiors, the pool area exudes a sense of calm and sophistication with one of the most exquisitely designed ceilings by artist Jacques Merle. The design of the swimming pool area is a harmonious blend of contemporary elegance and classic Parisian charm surrounded by plush lounge chairs and soft lighting, creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation. The use of natural materials and subtle, luxurious finishes enhances the tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal spot for unwinding after a day of exploring the city. Guests can also indulge in a range of treatments designed to soothe the body and mind, from deep tissue massages and facials to aromatherapy and reflexology. The spa features several treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite for those wishing to share a pampering experience. In addition to the treatment rooms, the spa offers a steam room and sauna leaving a tired family feeling refreshed and revitalised.
Art in the Hotel
Le Grand Mazarin's design is a love letter to the grand Maisons of the aristocratic era, recreating the atmosphere of an old-fashioned literary salon where guests can converse about the arts, politics, music and philosophy. Art enthusiasts will find much to admire as the hotel features an impressive collection of artworks displayed throughout its public spaces and guest rooms. The collection includes pieces from renowned artists as well as emerging talents, providing a diverse array of styles and mediums. Franco-Japanese artist, Tiffany Bouelle visited Boubalé restaurant on the 4th of July for an event that centred on her career and work, which she dedicated to the liberation of the word of the woman. The vibrant window displays can be seen on the rue de la Verrerie side windows of the hotel, displaying Bouelle's three unique window scenes. The bold mixture of colours and patterns took inspiration from the array of colours composing the city's 28 Rue Sedaine, and Alfred Hitchcock's film, Rear Window. Unique colours and quirky design define the hotel’s design, filled with eclectic antique pieces and rich colour palettes. Bouelle’s whimsical window displays further enhance the property’s striking design, giving the hotel's exteriors a stylish upgrade to be enjoyed by guests and passersby. The “Strange Neighborhood” exhibit will remain on display for 3 months, following its grand opening on 27th June. The hotel’s lobby also serves as an informal gallery, with rotating exhibitions that highlight different themes and artists. This commitment to showcasing art reflects the cultural vibrancy of the Marais district, a short walk away from the Centre Pompidou and an area known for its art galleries and creative scene.
Conclusion
Le Grand Mazarin offers a luxurious and culturally enriching experience that is hard to match. From its beautifully appointed accommodations and prime location to its exceptional dining, relaxing spa, and rich history, the hotel provides an ideal base for exploring Paris.
