How individuals access the internet has changed beyond recognition over the last few years. Recent data indicates that the majority of people globally actually access the internet using a mobile device. In fact, this number stands at around 98% of all users, with the majority of this use being via a smartphone. Those who access the internet via a desktop or laptop stand at just 58%.

With these figures in mind, it is little wonder that most businesses have found the need for a mobile app. You could be missing out if you have not yet joined the growing number of companies that have joined the mobile app bandwagon. The right application will allow you the unique opportunity to access a much larger pool of potential consumers and stay connected with your current customers.

Don’t just tick the boxes

If you want to stay ahead of the game in an increasingly competitive marketplace, having mobile versions of your applications should no longer be an afterthought. You need to invest in multiple interfaces to permit your organisation to move forward with a “mobile first” strategy. Of course, browser locations are still important but apps need to be treated as bespoke sites.

Reasons to build a mobile strategy

If you are still not convinced that this is the way forward, examine some of the most relevant reasons companies choose to build mobile strategies for their businesses.

Encourage customer loyalty

Customers, both potential and existing, want to be able to connect with your company no matter where they are. It’s convenient and helps them keep up with busy workloads. Therefore, if they can’t connect with you when they are mobile, such as on the train,  then they may choose to use one of your competitors instead. When you opt for a mobile app, you improve the speed of your responsiveness to your customer needs, and this will encourage customer loyalty. Mobile apps can also be designed to support offline use, further supporting customer engagement.

Give consumers several ways of contacting you

Gone are the days when everyone had a desktop. For the majority, particularly with the increase in flexible working, a laptop and a mobile phone are the main ways of accessing the information that they need. When you invest in a mobile app, you are helping to ensure that you are as contactable as possible to your consumers.

Increase your visibility and promote your brand

Having a mobile app increases your visibility. It means you can inform, persuade, convince, and influence any of your buyers' decision-making processes, no matter where they are or what device they are using.

Increase your reach and accessibility

Everywhere you go, no matter where you are in the world, you will see people using smart technology on a daily basis. In fact, many people find it hard to put down their technology and switch off at the end of the workday. This means that they are more accessible than they have ever been. The portability of mobile devices offers you a greater reach to constant users.

Increase sales and conversions

The most important reason to consider having a mobile app is that it can help you increase your sales and conversions. The more accessible your company is, the more likely it is to be the one that potential customers turn to when they are looking to purchase.

With all these reasons to recommend them, the question is not why you should get a mobile app but why you don’t already have one. If you have been considering this, then there has never been a better time to get the ball rolling.
