Bio: Fidelity Investments was founded in 1946 by Abigail Johnson’s grandfather, Edward C. Johnson II. Johnson was named President in 2012, then additionally CEO in 2014, and Chairman in 2016 which put her in full control of the company and its 45,000 worldwide employees.
Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Hobart and William Smith in 1984. She went on to complete an MBA at Harvard Business School and joined Fidelity as an analyst and portfolio manager in 1988. In 1997, she was promoted to an Executive role and has held various Senior Executive posts since then, leading to the positions she holds today.
Abigail is a member of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation and the board of directors of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). She is also the first and only woman to serve on the board of the Financial Services Forum.
